(wow, the title sucks, sorry)
It fascinated him, the water, crashing forwards and then running backwards hissing over the sand. He'd never seen anything like it before. He ran forward into the surf, chasing the water and it ran away from down the sand, his eye sparkled with his joy.
~crash!~
He scrambled back to his feet, shaking water everywhere. A small wave had toppled him, he had forgotten for a moment that the water came back after it ran away. His lips parted in a grin, no matter.
After playing for a while with the endless movement of the water, he padded back onto the sand. A line of footprints left behind him on the wet sand, but he didn't notice that. His ears were full of the rush of the ocean and the screech of some seabirds. His nose was full of the salty tang of the sea. His eyes roved around the beach scape. Apart from the birds he seemed to be alone, not that is bothered him, it has always been just him.
Bane had no idea where he was from, anything of his past. One day he awoke, and he just was. Everything was new and exciting and he never ceased to see new things to delight him. Something nagged at the back of his mind, something lacked from his life, surely something he had before, but when or what that was, he hadn't discovered it.

Fell was on the move. Shaggy frame low to the ground. Muscles fluid but motionless. Black and red fur never a twitch. Orange eyes focused on her quary. Saliva pooling in her mouth. Hare was on the menu. Quiet... one step. Silence, another step.
The rabbit sat oblivious to it's fate. It busied itself grooming his face. It's little arms going up and down. Pulling down it's ears and quickly twitching it's nose. Content enough to pick up another plant root for a nibble.
Death is inevitable.
A swift leap and the chase is on. The she-wolf running for a meal, the hare running for its life.
Rabbit is an amazingly fast and amazingly swift creature. But with poor stamina. The wolf, another swift animal but lacking the speed of the rabbit but wins the fight with stamina. Tire your pray, catch your pray.
The chase went on what seemed like hours, the screaming in Fells muscles sure felt like it. The hare tired emensly, inches from Fell's slobbery teeth.
Squeel! The rabbit let out a great cry of pain and quickly silenced. All that was life to it now was one last twitch and the slow trickle of blood.
Fell finished her meal and now wanted a place to relax. The pulsing nature of the coast called to her. So she went.
She spent some time relaxing benieth some brush when a stranger wolf played puppy-like in the waves like its never seen them before. She laid belly-down with her forelegs crossed in front.
It was with great envy that she watched the wolf play. Envy and amusment. It was then that she laughed. Not sure why or how but she did. And she didn't care if it was noticed.

The black pelt might of dried if it hadn't been for the constant spray from the wavelets running up over the sand, then he may of looked very strange as the salt would remain in his coat making him spangled with white.
Bane rolled in the dry sand, enjoying the gritty feel of the sand on his back. He rolled around on his back, wiggling and panting happily when he thought that he heard something else than the ocean.
He stood up and shook a shower of sand from his coat. It felt good, like all the salt, that had been making him itch, was gone from him. He grinned happily to himself, almost forgetting why he had stopped rolling.
Then he remembered the sound. It had almost sounded like a laugh, but he wasn't sure, not having remembered ever hearing another wolf laugh. He looked around, listening for the sound again, blue and yellow taking in all the sights.
His nose quivered, he could smell something, no someone, that scent was definitely not the ocean, nor the sea birds or other interesting flotsam thrown up on the shore. So he followed, because he had to know where the scent came from, and more importantly who it belonged to.
Then he spotted her, although he didn't recognize the scent of a female wolf, laying, watching him. He approached her with caution, something telling him that he shouldn't just run up to her in his usual manner. He didn't think that she was dangerous, just something that must be approached with caution. He knew he had of been with others of his own kind, but he had no memory of it.
So he came slowly, stopping to look at her, size her up as he came. He had his tail low and head bowed, not even realizing his submission toward this interesting stranger. At about 5 feet he stopped and lay down himself. He looked her over with interest, careful not to stare into those orange eyes. His tail wagged slowly against the ground.
"Hello" he said, a bit unsure of how he should address this wolf. She seemed to emanate power, like she was someone not to be trifled with. So he waited, wondering what was coming his way

Fell, with a full belly, was much less vicious than usual. She was calm, collected, albeit a bit sleepy too. The laziness usually makes her more peaceful. Not wanting to cause arguments or pick on others due to fact she simply doesn't want to waste the effort.
"Hello to you, too." She replied to the wolf who seemed that he would sell his soul to her if she were to give him the word to do so. Her tone was calm, even a bit gentle. Gentle usually being alien to her will. "I was watching you play in the waves. What is your name?"

His tail wagged faster as the stranger spoke to him. He was just a huge happy puppy, although he had the body of an adult. "I'm Bane" he said happily, not even realising that she had not offered her name, his mind was just filled with the delight of seeing another wolf.
He got up, and took a step towards her, odd eyes taking her in and then sparkling with happiness. Although a small thought troubled him.... what would he do now.... PLAY with her? It didn't seem right.... she didn't look like she wanted to play. So instead he sat back down.
"Who are you?" he blurted, suddenly realising that he didn't indeed know her name.

Fell let out a small soft chuckle. Her gaze wandered from Bane to the tall sea grass she laid by. She studied the grass for a breif moment. A small grass hopper was sunning itself. If was like night an day, the personalities of the two wolves. Fell, calm and steady. Bane, hyper and playful.
She faced Bane again. Her head moving smoothly as if sat on well-greased ball barrings. "Bane." She said in reconition. "My name is Fell." The shaggy black wold was curious about this creature she had discovered. She wished she held his enthusiasm for life. "You looked like you were having a great time in the ocean. Do you play often?"

Fell, he liked the name, but then, Bane liked everything.
"Play?" he seemed surprised, was that strange, "Umm, yes I guess I do" he managed to reply. For Bane with no past, no memories everything was new and exciting.
"Do you live here?" he looked around the Beach, the dancing water was again catching his attention, although he had already investigated that and Fell was a much more interesting distraction. She clearly wasn't like him, maybe she was how wolves where supposed to be? He hoped that maybe he could stay with her, he liked the company, it was better than being alone.

Fell watched Bane with all curiousness and amusement. He was an interesting being. She was not used to his personality type at all. She could not tell if if he was nervous or not. Or even his age. He acted like a pup but did not look like one.
"No Bane, I live in a place were all the trees are just skeletons of their formor self."
She looked at the coast. Off in the distance humpback whales were making their annual migration. Signaled by their long spouts for water they sprayed as the took a breath to go back down into the deep again. Fell has never met a live one. She once had the opportunity to investigate one that washed up dead on the beach. It's smell was so horrid it carried through the whole valley and and times made hunting near impossible until the body finally disappeared.
"Where did you come from?" Fell invisioned a pack full of these silly lupines. She managed to hide another small chuckle watching six banes trying to hunt Elk. "And why did you leave it. You don't seem like you will survive long on your own."

Skeleton trees, that sounded like something he might like to see. He grinned and was about to say so when she asked him the one thing he didn't know. His past.
He tried to remember, squinshing his eyes up. He probably looked very silly, but how he looked was something he had never really worried about. He thought hard, but all he saw was a swirling fog, it was empty.
Finally he opened his odd eyes, blinked slowly and sat down. "I....... don't know" he said with a confused tone. "I just came.. here.... and...." where had he been before? He knew that he'd been other places than this place. "I lived in a forest" his eyes sparked, as he remembered tall trees.
As for the problem of surviving on his own, he didn't know how long he'd been alone, so maybe he wouldn't survive. "I can hunt" he said in defence, "I'm a very good hunter" he grinned, pleased that he at least had that on his side.
