r e v e r e n c eThe sun was setting in the western skies, turning the clear winter skies varying shades of orange, pink, and purple. A few fluffy clouds lazily drifted across the transforming skies, disappearing on the horizon with the soft breezes that caressed the earth. The dry grass of the grasslands waved with the breeze - a sea of waving grasses. A stand of trees rose from the ground, towering over the grasses and becoming the most noticeable part of the landscape. Their shadows, enlongated by the setting sun, melded with the grasses. They were a mixture of trees; oak and elm, pine and ash, birch and cedar. In their shadows the air was even colder, but they made it an ideal place to hide. Kei wasn't hiding, but he was resting. His short brown fur waved slightly with the wind, but he hardly noticed the cold that came with it. Though it was five degrees coolor in the shade, more so with the winf and the setting sun, he didn't seem to notice any cold at all. And his breathing was so shallow that it hardly looked like he was alive. He was stretched out on his side, his head resting beside his front legs. There was soft grass beneath his body, provided the perfect bed and a wonderful place to rest. After having come from many miles away, hardly even stopping at night to rest, he needed to get in some well-deserved sleep. The sun finally set, allowing the land to settling into darkness that was lit by a full moon and bright stars, shining down on the grove of trees where the wolf slept, regaining his strength. r e v e r e n c e

The brown and white female wolven moved through the land silenty. Eyes looked around the land not wanting any sudden surprises, though she hated. She had only been in this world for about 2 years but in those 2 years she had learned to trust noone but herself. She had been hurt in the past way to many times. She heard nothing around her so she figure that she was safe for the time being. She pushed herself on in silence. She had been alone for so long that it no longer bothered her anymore. It kept her out of danger and from getting hurt. She didn't have to fight others either because she made sure she didn't cross into the land the others had. Eyes kept searching around her.

r e v e r e n c eNow that darkness had fallen over the land the entire world had begun to chance. First of all, it was dark instead of light; the obvious change. The moon and it's helpers, the stars, had replaced the sun and would hang in the black sky until the sun sent them away again in the morning. The creatures that roamed the earth were different now too. Rabbits and songbirds had retreated to their burrows and nests for the night and owls, bats, racoons and more had come in to replace them. Even the occasional large creature had come out to roam, such as the small herd of deer that crossed the grasslands, their scent permeating the air until it reached his nostrils, or the wolf that had to be wandering nearby. Wait. A wolf? Kei's head shot up from the sod, looking around and completely awake. He was certain that he had scented a wolf beyond the trees that he was resting under. He was certain that there was someone out there. He scrambled to his feet, pricking his ears forward to listen to what the world had to offer. There was nothing besides the normal night sounds to hear and he turned to the next important sense that he had to locate the stranger. He lifted his nose to the heavens and took in a long breath of air through his nose. The scents that he drew in told him everything that he needed to know; there was, indeed, a stranger somewhere, and she was a female. He lifted his head a second time and let out a low, soft warning howl, simply to alert whoever was out there that he was there too. r e v e r e n c e

She was about to take another step when she caught the sound of the other in the area. She rolled her eyes now knowing that she had been picked out by the other. She didn't know wiether to respond to the strangers howl or keep quiet. She couldn't seem the other but she knew that he was around. She decided that it would be best if she just returned the howl so that other wouldn't think she was a threat. Head lifted into the air and she released her own in repley to the other. Than she waited to see what would happen next.
